Prerequisite: "Understanding Science" Video

Students will receive an email no later than a week before the Workshop with information on this 90 minute video. Students who have not been in our Standard ACT Class or had tutoring with George Mizzell must work through it before class begins.

This course is best suited for students with math/science scores over 25-26. Students with a math score below this level need to attend the standard workshop. For the math, we will spend most of the time working on the harder math problems and the in-class materials will be primarily the hardest math problems and then Mr. Mizzell will go over how to work those problems and point out shortcuts and things for students to look for in solving those types of problems quickly. In the science part we will be primarily focused on a wide range of the hardest science passages covering a wide range of subjects. Mr. Mizzell will pull from his library of over 50 former tests to challenge students in both subject matter, question types and difficulty.

NOTE: There will be homework after every class and the students are expected to not only do their homework but review everything they miss and work on learning how to not make those mistakes again.

All Sessions - October 1, 8, 15, 22 - 6:30 to 8:30 PM (1 hour on each subject)

Math: Students will start with a few medium level math problems and then quickly get to the harder problems. Mr. Mizzell will go over all of the hard math problems after students have been given time to work them. The homework will be a full mat/science test and students will get broad exposure to the full set of math problems in homework. Class problems will primarily be the last 15-20 problems on the test.

Science: Focus on science passages that have consistently challenged all the students that Mr. Mizzell has worked with in tutoring sessions. After scoring the passages, Mr. Mizzell will explain the most commonly missed questions and invite students to ask other questions and then move on to the next passage.
