Prerequisite: "Understanding Science" Video
Students will receive an email no later than a week before the Workshop with information on this 90 minute video. Students who have not been in our Standard ACT Class or had tutoring with George Mizzell must work through it before class begins.
This course is best suited for students with math/science scores over 25-26. Students with a math score below this level need to attend the standard workshop. For the math, we will spend most of the time working on the most difficult math problems. In-class materials will be primarily looking at those problems - both how to work them and shortcuts for solving and time management. Science will be primarily focused on a wide range of the most difficult science passages, covering a wide range of subjects. Mr. Mizzell will use his library of over 50 former tests to challenge students in both subject matter, question types and difficulty.
NOTE: There will be homework after every class. Students are expected not only to complete their homework, but review for problems missed and corrections.
All Sessions - January 28, February 4, 11, and 18 - 6:15 to 8:00 PM (Half time on each subject)
Math: Students will start with a few medium level math problems and then quickly begin on the harder problems. Mr. Mizzell will review all problems after students have been given time to work them. The homework will be a full math/science test, and students will have broad exposure to the full set of math problems in homework. Class problems will primarily be the last 15-20 problems on the test.
Science: Focus on science passages that have consistently challenged students in Mr. Mizzell's tutoring sessions. After scoring the passages, Mr. Mizzell will explain the most commonly missed questions and invite students to ask other questions.
